same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arrangement changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new possibility emerges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet not all transformations occur this way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes the transformation involves becoming something different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>More Than Rearrangement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine an entity that changes so significantly that describing it as a rearrangement no longer feels sufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Something new has emerged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The identity has shifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose has evolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The role has changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformation appears to involve becoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Remaining Connected To The Origin<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most interesting aspects of this type of transformation is that the new state often remains connected to the old one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformation does not begin from nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It begins from something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The previous state still matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The origin remains visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet the entity is no longer exactly what it was before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Different Kind Of Movement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Transformation through becoming is not simply a change in arrangement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a change in what the entity itself represents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new state emerges that carries characteristics not previously present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformation is no longer primarily about structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is about identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Looking Beyond Configuration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the previous article, transformation occurred through a different relationship between existing components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The capability already existed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resources already existed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformation emerged through rearrangement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transformation through becoming asks a different question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What happens when the entity itself evolves into something new?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Emergence Of A New State<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many transformations appear to follow this pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A product becomes a platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A service becomes a subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A department becomes a business unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An invention becomes an industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformation is not merely a new arrangement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The entity itself has crossed into a different state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Re-Distribution<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the Transformative Design research, this pattern was described as Re-Distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transformation through becoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The entity remains connected to its origin while simultaneously becoming something different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformation occurs not through rearrangement alone, but through the emergence of a new state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Different Question<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When observing a transformation, it may be useful to ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Has the arrangement changed?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or has something more significant occurred?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Has the entity itself become something different?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because some transformations are not about seeing existing elements differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some transformations are about the emergence of a new identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Personal Observation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Transformation through becoming is perhaps the easiest form of transformation to recognise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We often notice when something has become something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is less obvious is understanding how that becoming occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transition states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The movement between one identity and another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet once those become visible, the transformation itself becomes easier to understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Explore the Original
